Excellent all around pair of binos

I've had these Monarch 10x42 in Realtree camo for 3-4 months now and have used them frequently over that time period in a variety of conditions.
This is an excellent all around pair of binoculars. They provide an extremely clear, bright view. On a clear/sunny day, the difference between these and a cheaper pair of binos isn't that apparent (although it is noticable), but as lighting conditions fade the benefits of a high quality pair of binos really shine through (cheaper binoculars don't let as much light through).
I think 10x42 is a pretty good choice for a general purpose pair of binoculars. It's plenty of zoom for most outdoor uses while providing a good field of view.
The Realtree finish on these binoculars looks excellent. They look great, and IMO it's worth going with the realtree vs. the black.
The Monarchs feel like a well put together, durable bino. While I've only had them for a few months, I've used them quite a bit with no signs of durability issues. The form factor is also idea - small and light enough to throw in a bag without thinking about it.
In summary, for the sub ~$300 range I think the Nikon Monarchs are the clear choice, for optical quality, durability, convenient size/weight. I highly doubt you will find a better pair of binoculars for anything close to the price of the Monarchs. |
